MTV Latin America and the United Nations Secretary General´s UNITE to end Violence against Women presented the initiative “Be Brave not Violent”. The initiative is aimed at young people in Latin America and the Caribbean, with the objective inspiring young people in the region to become part of the solution to end violence against women.

In partnership with governments, civil society and UN agencies, Funds and Programmes, UNICEF is laying the groundwork to end child marriage globally. In 2011, 34 country offices reported efforts to address child marriage through social and economic change efforts and legal reform... During the event, the new U.S. Public Diplomacy Officer in Lagos, Mrs. Rhonda Watson, said that the U.S. Embassy was always ready to help the young girls to realize their dreams.

On World Water Day (March 22), numerous initiatives and announcements will sure come up. For one, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will announce a new public-private partnership, called U.S. Water Partnership, on Thursday to seek solutions to the global water problem.

The world's nations achieved a U.N. goal of cutting in half the proportion of people without access to safe drinking water five years ahead of the 2015 target...The water target was one of the U.N. Millennium Development Goals to reduce global poverty that government leaders, nongovernmental organizations and the United Nations have been working to achieve, with varying success.

The tenth version of Africa's biggest mass road race, the Great Ethiopian Run, will to be held in Addis Ababa tomorrow. The organizing committee, headed by the prominent athlete Haile Gebereselassie, in partnership with the United Nations, launched its campaign of the 2010 Great Ethiopian Run with the motto: ''I am Running for the Child to Narrow the Gap to Meet the Millennium Development Goals.''
