Darius Wainwright is a doctoral student in the University of Reading’s Department of History, and a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the London School of Economics’ Department of International History. His PhD thesis examines the United States and Britain’s exertion of soft power and cultural diplomacy in Iran during the 1950s. It examines the motives, the types of policies pursued and the extent to which they were successful.

In 2017, Darius was awarded a travel grant from the Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Library, as well as an award from the British Association of American Studies and the Royal Historical Society. He was also the recipient of a British Library Eccles Centre Fellowship
