Taiwan delegation meets BHU vice-chancellor

A five-member delegation from Taiwan met the vice chancellor of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) Dr Lalji Singh on Wednesday. According to BHU spokesperson, the visiting Taiwanese experts discussed various issues related to science and technology and biology in particular for academic exchange between the two countries.

Pak-China struck two agreements for cooperation

Pakistan and China Wednesday signed two agreements for cooperation in the economic, technological and cultural sectors. The first agreement “Economic and Technological Cooperation between Pakistan and China for a grant of 70 million RMB” was signed by Acting Secretary Economic Affairs Division Iftikhar Ahmad Rao and Chinese Vice Minister of Commerce Jiang Zeng Wei.

Bringing the Maltese community in Luxembourg together

Dr Borg welcomed the opportunity to meet with the Maltese community in Luxembourg and referred to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ efforts to reach out to all Maltese communities around the world. He also spoke about the amendments made to the citizenship law of Malta, which allowed second and third generations to obtain Maltese citizenship.

Constitution affirms Brotherhood policy to marginalize intellectuals

The statement said intellectuals are the soft power that strengthens Egypt in the Arab and international arenas. The draft gives the president the power to appoint a quarter of the members of the Senate from officials, ministers and former ambassadors, but did not mention writers, thinkers and artists and intellectuals, the statement added, who are the nation's conscience and mind.

Top China negotiator sees more exchanges

Taiwan will continue to expand its exchanges with China in a wide range of areas, including culture, Taiwan's chief negotiator with China, Lin Join-sane, said in Beijing yesterday. Making the remarks during a visit to Beijing's Palace Museum, the Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF) chairman said his trip is part of the government's efforts to deepen cultural exchanges with China.
