The Chinese government is encouraging domestic publishers of foreign-language periodicals to target the overseas market as part of the country's strategy to boost its media presence abroad, a major step to build China into a big player in the world media and publication market and make the cultural sector a pillar industry in the country.

Study: Most online terror activity is in social media

Terrorist organizations have found a dual use for Facebook: recruitment of new members and an intelligence gathering platform. The social media is enabling the terror organizations to take initiatives by making ‘friend’ requests, uploading video clips. By using these tools, the organizations are able to be active in recruiting new friends without geographical limitations.

State Department announces second international sports exchange

Sports diplomacy builds on Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s vision of “smart power", which embraces the use of a full range of diplomatic tools, including sports, to bring people together to foster greater understanding. Since 2003, SportsUnited has brought almost 900 athletes from 58 countries to the U.S. to participate in Sport Visitor programs.

Toward a cultural community in NE Asia

For me, in the flood of news a headline bears special importance for Northeast Asia security. The guideline reiterated by President Hu Jintao about boosting the "cultural soft power" of China recognizes that "culture has increasingly become a major element bringing together the people and the creative power of Chinese nationality".

Drone attacks remained ineffective against militant leaders: CMC

During the confrontation, the CIA also conducted revenge attacks in Pakistan; as following differences between American State Department and the CIA, at the occasion of almost every high level meeting between Pakistani and American authorities, the CIA carried out a drone attack. American premier agency effectively undermined public diplomacy of its own government.
