STC Participates In First-Ever Cultural Exchange With Theatre Royal Bath From England

Eight acting conservatory students from Stages Theatre Company (STC) are traveling to Bath, England in July as part of a cultural theatre exchange. In return, 13 acting students and three technical theatre students from the Theatre Royal Bath-Young People's Theatre (TRB YPT), the egg, are traveling to Hopkins in August to perform for audiences at STC.

Cross-strait Cultural Summits On Horizon

Top governmental cultural agencies on both sides of the Taiwan Strait are expected to meet in September in Beijing and October in Taipei for cultural summit conferences. Franco-Arab Film Festival to run in Jordan on July 1st

For its 15th edition, the Franco-Arab Film Festival will display 15 feature-length movies (fictions and documentaries), including Palestinian, Iraqi, Lebanese, Syrian, Moroccan, Algerian, Tunisian, Egyptian and French movies. The Festival will also hold cinema workshops, and a tribute to the late Youssef Chahine.

UK: Developing World Left Behind in the News Agenda

The report’s findings show that television is lagging far behind its audiences. Coverage of the wider world - in both news and other genres - does not reflect that most people in the UK have a range of connections with other parts of the world and a curiosity about how people in other countries lead their lives. Respondents said the news reports they did see often reinforced stereotypical images of the developing world, dominated by images of malnourished children in news bulletins and charity appeals.
