CPD Director Philip Seib has been quoted in Al Jazeera article concerning President's Obama's speech on economic aid to Tunisia and Egypt.
The article focused on what President Obama would be discussing in his May 19th speech on the recent "Arab Spring" and whether the US will be providing any economic aid to the nations that have taken part in the ouster of their governments. In talking about the region, analysts also mentioned the need to focus on how the administration will handle future relations with Israel since recent talks between Israel and Palestine fell through. Seib was quoted on this subject saying "Obama must make clear, publicly and privately, that Israel must move forward now." President Obama is expected to announce a new direction for Middle East policy which has more recently been focused on military action in Iraq.
