KEEP READINGCPD Publishes Water Diplomacy Conference Report
This report on CPD's conference “Water Diplomacy: A Foreign Policy Imperative” provides brief summaries of each panel discussion with a focus on preliminary observations and recommendations for the conduct of water public diplomacy and policy.
Bringing together water diplomacy scholars and practitioners from around the globe, these experts spent the day discussing best practices to tackle water challenges around the globe with a focus on three key areas for successful water diplomacy: knowledge, strategic partnerships and advocacy.
The Conference Report was written by Emily Chin who was the CPD Water Diplomacy Contributing Researcher and 2012 graduate of the Master of Public Diplomacy program here at the Annenberg School. This report provides brief summaries of each panel discussion with a focus on preliminary observations and recommendations for the conduct of water public diplomacy and policy.
Throughout the conference, each panel provided observations and suggestions for conducting water diplomacy more efficiently and effectively. The USC Center on Public Diplomacy has distilled these observations and preliminary recommendations into three categories: knowledge, strategic partnerships, and advocacy. Suggestions are aimed at either public diplomacy practitioners, including water diplomats, or policymakers in the area of water, foreign policy, technology, and public diplomacy and are divided up accordingly. We believe that these preliminary recommendations can serve as a resource for all public diplomats and policymakers working in the water sector.
