Summer Institute 2010 participant Michelle Lee publishes an article in State Magazine

Summer Institute 2010 participant Michelle Lee wrote a piece about the program in the November 2010 issue of State Magazine, a U.S. State Department publication.

In her article, titled "It's Academic: Public diplomacy invades ivory tower," Lee highlights the activities of the program, especially the mutual learning between scholars and practitioners. She explains how the program can benefit public diplomacy practitioners, especially as the field grows.

Ms. Lee was chosen by the Council of American Ambassadors as the 2010-11 Davis Public Diplomacy Fellow. This fellowship program combines on-the-job training with academic study and mentoring by former U.S. ambassadors, public diplomacy officers and communications executives. Its purpose is to enhance the conduct and practice of U.S. public diplomacy through the provision of specialized training and mentoring opportunities for mid-career officers.
