Over two thousand women received training in e-marketing, bead-making, cloth weaving, soap, air freshener, shoe making, hair-do, waste-to-wealth and make-up, among other skills at this year’s 10th African Arts and Craft Expo in Abuja. The 22-day expo, which ended last Sunday, also provided free medical tests for blood sugar and Body Mass Index for about 1,120 Nigerians, who could not afford such exercises. Also, 200 Nigerians were given free eye glasses while 620 got free dental test.

The Chairman/CEO of the Nigeria Police Broadcasting Service (NPBS), Ediri Jerry Wesley, revealed – during an interview with journalists in Abuja on Saturday, September 2, 2017 – that the proposed NPBS would be hitting Nigerian airwaves as of the November 28, 2017, according to a report by Today NG. Wesley also revealed that transmission will be done in both Pidgin English and other Nigerian Languages.

BBC premiered its new Pidgin service on Monday, August 21, hopeful that the station will attract the estimated 75 million Pidgin speakers in Nigeria, as well as Pidgin speakers in Cameroon, Ghana and Sierra Leone. Pidgin, for the unfamiliar, is a hybrid language that mixes English with one or more other languages. About 5 million Nigerians speak Pidgin as their first language.
