Neal Rosendorf is an associate professor of international relations in the Government Department at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, NM. He earned his PhD in U.S. international history at Harvard University and has taught at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia, and Long Island University in New York.
Dr. Rosendorf is the author of Franco Sells Spain to America: Hollywood, Tourism and Public Relations as Postwar Spanish Soft Power, published by Palgrave Macmillan Press in February 2014. He is currently writing The Jewish State’s Image-Building Efforts in America, 1948-68: “To Sell Israel”, scheduled to be published by Palgrave Macmillan in 2018. He has written numerous scholarly articles and book chapters, book reviews, magazine articles and op-eds, which have been published among other places in Diplomatic History, the Historical Journal of Film, Radio and Television, the International History Review, the Journal of Cold War Studies, The American Interest, the Foreign Service Journal, the Arizona Republic, the Albuquerque Journal and the Christian Science Monitor. He has additionally contributed numerous articles to the website of the USC Center on Public Diplomacy, where he held a research fellowship in 2008-2009.
Dr. Rosendorf has lectured throughout the U.S. and internationally on soft power, public diplomacy and national reputation management and has been interviewed or quoted by the New York Times, the Financial Times, the Wall Street Journal, Voice of America, India Today, the Glasgow Herald and the Singapore Straits Times. Neal Rosendorf lives in El Paso, TX with his wife Lisa Franklin Rosendorf, the Chief Communications and Government Affairs Officer at the El Paso Water Utilities, and their two children.
