Alexander Buhmann, Ph.D. is Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication and Culture at BI Norwegian Business School and Director of the BI Centre for Corporate Communication. At the former he worked as a researcher in the Department of Communication and Media Research at the University of Fribourg (2011-2015) and in the Department of Media Studies at Siegen University (2009–2011). Alexander obtained an M.A. in media studies from Siegen University (2010) and a Ph.D. in communication from the University of Fribourg (2015). Alexander’s research is situated at the intersection of communication, digital technology and management. Specifically, his current interests center on performance measurement and evaluation as well as governance and accountability of self-learning systems. Buhmann's 2016-18 CPD Research Fellowship project is titled, "Why Do(n’t) They Measure? Drivers and Barriers in Public Diplomacy Measurement and Evaluation."
