Lutheran World Relief and USAID Partner in Effort to Promote Honduran Women Farmers

For the past three years, Lutheran World Relief has partnered with the U.S. Agency for International Development through the U.S. Government's Feed the Future initiative on an innovative approach to promoting women's leadership in several Western Honduras agricultural communities. This project is funded by USAID as part of Feed the Future, the U.S. Government's global hunger and food security initiative.

Finland to Become World's First Country with its Own Unicode Emojis

Finland became the first country in the world to unveil a collection of national emojis in December, 2015. Finland is set to become the first country in the world to have its own country-themed emojis added to the Unicode Standard. U.S Women National Team Coach to Visit MFA

In continuation of its activities to break gender barriers and promote female soccer in Liberia, the Monrovia Football Academy (MFA) and the U.S. Embassy Monrovia has announced that the Coach of the U.S Women’s National Team, Jill Ellis, accompanied by her team’s goalkeeper, Ashlyn Harris, will be visiting the MFA from November 29 – December 2.

Tehran, Fourth Christian-Muslim Summit: Dialogue Against Fanaticism and Violence

To strengthen inter-religious dialogue, combat fundamentalist ideology at the root of war and violence, relaunching the peace projects involving personalities of all faiths in a common path of encounter and discussion: These are some of the objectives outlined in the fourth Christian-Muslim Summit, which was held in Tehran (Iran) from 6 to 9 November. The meeting, which was widely reported on Iranian media, was hosted by the International Center for Interfaith Dialogue, which belongs to the Organization for Islamic cultures and religions.

S. Korea, Albania Mark Anniversary with Cultural Events

South Korea and Albania held a series of cultural events in the Balkan country last week to mark a key anniversary in their bilateral ties, the Korean Embassy in Greece said Sunday. The two countries celebrated 25 years since establishing diplomatic relations with a host of cultural events in the Albanian capital of Tirana from Thursday through Saturday, according to the embassy, which oversees Albania affairs from Greece.

UNICEF Makes Venture Capital Investment in South African Blockchain Project

UNICEF recently announced its first portfolio of investments in open-source technology solutions. These include tools that improve connectivity, real time data collection, identity technology and learning. The fund is supporting 9Needs, a South African startup that uses blockchain and advances in identity technology to create better management systems for early childhood development service, Blockchain News reported.

Bilateral Military Exercises Demonstrate ‘Unity in Spirit,’ say Singapore Army Officials

The 22nd edition in the series of bilateral exercises between armed forces from Singapore (SAF) and Malaysia (MAF), demonstrated “unity in spirit”, said the Chief of Staff-General Staff of the Singapore Army, Brigadier-General (BG) Desmond Tan Kok Ming at the closing ceremony of Exercise Semangat Bersatu today. According to Singapore’s Ministry of Defence (Mindef), this year’s exercise was a 10-day affair conducted in Kluang, and involved around 980 personnel from both the 1st Battalion, Singapore Infantry Regiment, and the 5th Royal Malay Regiment.
