Humans of New York Raises $2 Million to End Forced Labor in Pakistan

The photographer, Brandon Stanton, usually chronicles everyday New Yorkers on the popular blog Humans of New York. This month, however, he visited Pakistan and posted images and the stories of the people he encountered there — including Syeda Ghulam Fatima, a campaigner against what's known as bonded labor.

Shaolin Monks Electrify Nairobi Audience at Super Kungfu Show

Islamic Experts Urge More Muslim Action on Climate Change

A group of Islamic experts urged the world's 1.6 billion Muslims on Tuesday to do more to fight global warming, in a new example of religious efforts to galvanise action before a UN climate summit in Paris in December. Christiana Figueres, the head of the U.N. Climate Change Secretariat, said religion was a guide for action.

Artists Transform Heartbreaking Letters from Detained Migrants into Gripping Works of Art

Oftentimes, when words fail, art has the ability to express our deepest pain and unrelenting hope. Visions from the Inside is a project enlisting 15 artists from across the country to create a piece of art based off letters from women in detention. The initiative, a collaboration between CultureStrike, Mariposas Sin Fronteras and End Family Detention, illuminates the horrific realities of life inside some for-profit detention facilities in the U.S., as well as the resilient spirit that keeps the inmates going.
