Chinese Perceptions of U.S. Decline and Power

Chinese perceptions of American power are consequential. As long as Chinese leaders perceive a long-lasting American preeminence, averting confrontation with the United States is likely seen as the best option. If Beijing were to perceive the U.S. position as weakening, there could be fewer inhibitions for China to avoid challenging the United States where American and Chinese interests diverge.

Russians Most Positive About Korea

Russians have the most positive image about Koreans among people in 25 countries, followed by Canadians, Saudi Arabians, Mexicans, Filipinos and Italians, according to a latest poll Monday. The survey found that Koreans, meanwhile, were less popular in the United States, Japan, Germany, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Reflections on A Year in Humboldt: Chilean Exchange Student Returns Home

AFS Intercultural Programs is one of the world's largest not-for-profit volunteer-based organizations. It offers international exchange programs in more than 50 countries through local AFS organizations, each with a network of volunteers, a professionally staffed office and a volunteer board. More than 300,000 students and adults have been exchanged since 1946.

Promoting Cultural Exchange in Japan’s Classrooms

Japan's imperial couple will arrive in a few days to honor a scholarship created as a wedding gift for them 50 years ago. Other programs also promote cultural exchange between Hawaii and the Land of the Rising Sun. The JET program began in 1987. More than 850 participants from Hawaii have gone to Japan, and the friendships they make there usually last long after they leave.
