A Closer Look at China's Confucius Institutes

CPD is pleased to announce the release of our latest CPD Perspectives on Public Diplomacytitled Confucius Institutes and the Globalization of China's Soft Power.

This edition of Perspectives opens with a preface from CPD Director Jay Wang, and features three in-depth analyses of various aspects of the Confucius Institutes program:

  • Lewis & Clark College Professor Jennifer Hubbert discusses her experience as a chaperone on a trip to China with high school students in "Authenticating the Nation: Confucius Institutes and Soft Power;"

  • CPD Contributing Scholar Falk Hartig offers a case study in "The Globalization of Chinese Soft Power: Confucius Institutes in South Africa."
