Conan Stars In North Korea’s First Late Night Talk Show

Late-night talk show host Conan O’Brien traveled to South Korea this month for a special comedic broadcast with his friend, Steven Yeun, a Korean-American actor and star of The Walking Dead. Highlights from their visit included a trip to the World Tae Kwon Do headquarters (Kukkiwon), a lesson in enlightenment at the Bokwangsa Buddhist Temple, and a behind the scenes look at the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). This overseas broadcast marked O’Brien’s fourth international show—previous programs included Cuba, Armenia and Qatar—and offered a glimpse of both the cultural heritage and history of South Korea, as well as the public diplomacy value of comedy in connecting people in dialogue.
