The Internet is a positive tool for diplomacy, usually. The rise of the digital sphere and online communities allows for stronger communication and facilitates the spread of ideas; however, the Internet still poses challenges for state and non-state actors alike. PD News headlines this week demonstrate that digital technology has allowed Mongolia to promote and discuss Internet freedom, while Armenia explored better practices in digital diplomacy. On the other end, the U.S. demonstrated the increased challenges of digital technology by addressing cyber security concerns and combatting social media-savvy ISIS actors.
