From Pope Francis to President Obama, headlines this week in PD News were all about diplomatic trailblazers. Pope Francis held a historic meeting with Russia’s holy leader, Patriarch Kirill, over the crisis in Syria, and a successful meeting between China’s President Xi Jinping and Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi led the two men to declare 2016 the “Egyptian-Chinese cultural year.” Other headlines explored the roles of Brazil, NATO and presidential children in the international order.
