Mel Levine, Chairman of the CPD Advisory Board has announced the appointment of Dr. Katherine Brown to the Board.
Brown is currently a 2016-17 Council on Foreign Relations' (CFR) International Affairs Fellow. Prior to this, she served as Executive Director of the U.S. Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy at the U.S. Department of State, an office authorized by Congress to appraise and strengthen U.S. engagement activities with foreign citizens. She previously served in the United States government as an assistant to the National Security Adviser at the White House; as a Communications Adviser at the U.S. embassy in Kabul; and as a Professional Staff Member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs at the U.S. House of Representatives.
For the past 5 years, Brown has worked closely with CPD on a number of projects and most recently on the joint CSIS-CPD report on PD & National Security published in January. "Katherine's incredibly relevant background is stellar and we are delighted that she will lend her expertise and DC perspective to the Center in this new capacity," said Levine.
"We are very fortunate to have such an ally and advocate for public diplomacy in Katherine," said Jay Wang, CPD's Director. "I look forward to her contributions to CPD's growth in the coming years."
