In Havana, a Real Education

Today, the University of Havana—Cuba’s oldest institution of higher education—partners with 12 North American colleges and universities to run study abroad programs, nine of them come from schools in the United States. The partnerships started in 2000 with the Institute for Study Abroad. In the last academic year, the University of Havana hosted nearly 100 foreigners.

Performance of friendship groups disappointing

While there is a plethora of parliamentary friendship groups in the Turkish Parliament with ties to corresponding groups in other countries, the number of reciprocal visits between these groups is disappointingly low.

YES Programs Encourage Cultural Exchange at Alta

YES was founded following the post-9/11 realization that public awareness of world culture, especially about nations with signifigant Muslim populations, was extremely low. Funded by the US Department of State, the progra is a collaborative effort between foreign exchange organizations both within America and throughout the Middle East and Asia.
