This week's PD discourse focused heavily on soft power. The visit to CPD from the U.S. Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs, Richard Stengel, brought a personal face to the extensive discussion of soft power vs. hard power seen in the news as of late. The prevalence of PD News stories on China and India this week attests to Asia's increased focus on soft power in its diplomatic efforts. The question remains: is hard power softening?
