Russia and Spain will have 2011 as their cross-cultural exchange year to host 700 events to boost mutual cooperation in science, education, culture and economics. Diplomatic relations between Russia and Spain started in 1667. The two nations have faced many hardships since then and it was not always easy to keep a high level of cultural cooperation.
Last week's two-day conference, “International Encounter of Journalists: Media Treatment of the Middle East,” was organized to “create a space for reflection and meaningful dialogue about media treatment of the Middle East and its influence on Spanish public opinion.”
“I hope that the Spanish people will be able to garner a great interest in traditional Korean culture through the creative, embroidered works of Korean women,” said collector Huh Dong-hwa, director of the local museum, in a statement.
A press conference was held this morning in the Holy See Press Office to present the next World Youth Day, which is due to be held in the Spanish capital city of Madrid in August 2011.
