China Summit on strategic communications scheduled at Tsinghua University in Beijing

The Strategic Summit will explore how new communications strategies are advancing commercial, cultural and nation branding for China. Confutius lectures aim to boost China trade links

Leading Chinese and Scottish business figures are to deliver a series of lectures in a bid to encourage more trade and economic activity between the two countries. The talks are being organized by the University of Edinburgh's Confutius Institute for Scotland.

So what is public diplomacy all about? The basic idea is that in order to achieve a wide range of goals—­from economics to military—you need to get support of ordinary people. Whether the goal is to convince foreign publics that the rise of China poses no threat to the international system, or to persuade the so-called “Arab street” to shed its anti-Western beliefs, public diplomacy is called upon to work its miracles.

France, Vietnam brace for exchange year

According to Dung, the Vietnam-France cultural exchange year will last through early 2014 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries and mark the development of their bilateral cooperation. It is also a significant event which will open up opportunities to expand relationships between the two nations to various fields.

Brand Poland grows stronger - report

Poland placed 20th in the Top 100 Most Valuable Nation Brands prepared by the London-based Brand Finance, and showed the highest percentage growth rate in 2012 at 75%, the daily Puls Biznesu reported on Friday.
