The Middle Kingdom has been all over public diplomacy news this week, as leaders from Beijing push international cultural collaborations with the U.K., ASEAN, and Kuwait, while continuing to make significant inroads into creating a stronger infrastructure in Africa. The results have not been completely positive, however, as several universities in the U.S. have taken a strong stance against China’s Confucius Institutes, and anti-Japanese TV dramas have come under scrutiny for their continued proliferation of an unfriendly rhetoric.
