KEEP READINGKernaia: Preserve Indigenous Languages
In the past, languages indigenous to native communities could easily have disappeared over time. But with Kernaia, a platform which partners with communities, artists, developers and marketers, these languages can live on.
Kernaia is working to create an “an ecosystem of digital content for indigenous languages” by creating individual apps that teach the culture, language and customs of indigenous communities. These apps help to preserve these languages, while sharing them with the rest of the world in order to keep the traditions alive. Kernaia currently has three apps: Purepecha, Mixteco, and Nahuatl, all indigenous communities in Mexico. With over 6,500 indigenous languages in the world, Kernaia is hoping to ensure their preservation and diffusion to app users near and far.
