Taipei Festival Showcases Diverse Asia-Pacific Cultures

The 2016 Asia-Pacific Culture Day concluded Nov. 6 at Taipei Main Station, with 20 foreign missions from the region and representatives from seven local governments participating in Taiwan’s efforts to promote cultural exchanges, interactions and understanding between Taiwan and its diplomatic allies and partners throughout the region.

Doctors Without Borders Opens 'Refugee Camp' on Independence Mall

Conflicts such as the war raging in Syria have led to the displacement of more than 65 million people world-wide, the group says. To bring home the full impact, Doctors Without Borders has opened an interactive exhibit on Independence Mall where aid workers like Stewart walked visitors through exhibits describing the ordeal. Called "Forced From Home," the exhibit that opened over the weekend will be closed Monday but will reopen at 9 a.m. Tuesday and run through Nov. 13.

French Cinema Captures Emerging Emirati Filmmaker Fayssal Bensahli’s Heart

If six weeks in Paris during the European summer learning filmmaking from some of the greats of French cinema sounds like your kind of working holiday, you should probably keep your ear to the ground for the 2017 edition of the Femis Gulf Summer School. The programme – a partnership between The Embassy of France to the UAE and the Femis Film School in Paris – sends students from across the Gulf to Paris each summer for an intensive six-week course.

PM Modi Set to Be the Mascot for Incredible India Tourism Campaign

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to be the mascot of ‘Incredible India’ campaign as the Tourism Ministry decided to do away with plans to rope in any Bollywood stars, including Amitabh Bachchan, for the role which was lying vacant after ouster of Aamir Khan earlier this year. [...] The ministry is planning to use -- for radio and audio release -- two types of videos of different durations where Modi had talked about the uniqueness and diversity of the country, the official said.

Historic Milestone in Sino-British Research Cooperation

A top delegation, including eight vice-chancellors from elite Russell Group universities, signed an agreement for funding and research collaboration in Shanghai and met a group from China's leading universities. The U.K. group from the Russell Group universities met with representatives from the C9 League, China's elite educational institutions, a group that is sometimes compared to the American Ivy League.
