Beijing-Linked Phoenix TV Seeks Hong Kong License As China Extends 'Soft Power'

Bruce Lui, senior journalism lecturer at Hong Kong's Baptist University, said Phoenix operates with the full blessing of the Chinese government and represents the face of Beijing's "soft power." [...] "The traditional state media format is getting a little tired, so China is encouraging certain private-sector entrepreneurs to preach its message in more attractive packaging," he said.

We Can End Hunger By Looking Beyond Food

The programs taught mothers, fathers and others in the family with child-rearing responsibilities the importance of good nutrition, and how to better care for their children. USAID partners mentored families to ensure more frequent health clinic visits, helped them access healthy food through temporary food transfers, and provided cooking demonstrations to expand use of locally available nutritious foods.

Turkic Nations to Gather in Seoul for Culture Festival

A Cultural Festival of Turkic-Speaking States will be held in Seoul, Korea, from November 8-13. The festival will bring together cultural figures from Azerbaijan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, Azertac reported. The opening ceremony will take place at the National Museum of Korea on November 8.

OneBeat Brings Cultural Diplomacy to Timucua in the Form of International Musical Collaboration

Chinese TV, Movie Show Boosts Cultural Exchange With Nigeria

Cultural exchange between China and Nigeria got another boost on Thursday when the "Beijing Television Dramas and Movies Broadcasting Season in Africa" was declared open in the West African country. At least 17 Chinese movies and TV dramas of various categories, including urban comedy, love, family and adventure, are to be aired in Nigeria throughout the season.

Prince Harry Continues Princess Diana's HIV Advocacy Work

As part of his visit, Prince Harry spent a considerable amount of time learning about the HIV virus and sharing his efforts to encourage high-risk groups to undergo HIV testing for early detection and treatment. Earlier in July, Prince Harry underwent HIV testing himself to encourage people to put their inhibitions aside and embark on the antiretroviral drug therapy if tested positive.
