Edinburgh Heritage Charity to Aid Syrian Cultural Protection

A charity dedicated to maintaining Edinburgh's heritage has offered to help the restoration of several of Syria's cultural sites. Edinburgh World Heritage has offered to help the work of Professor Maamoun Adbulkarim, director-general of antiquities and museums, who this week called for help to protect the country's heritage.

How Palestinian Youth Joined Ban Ki-moon's UN Expert Group

On International Youth Day, which is celebrated annually on Aug. 12, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon chose Palestinian youth Hussein Murtaja from Gaza City to be part of the Advisory Group of Experts for Progress Study on Youth, Peace and Security. [...] This group includes 21 youth experts who work in the framework of a project with the aim of finding a new role the youth can play in peace and security building.

"Sensing China" Exhibition Arrives in Kazakhstan's Largest City

On August 26, the "Sensing China-Travel to Kazakhstan" exhibition formally opened at Kazakhstan National University in the nation's largest city Almaty. [...] the exhibition will last for six days and features a photo exhibition and tourism promotion, a "Created in China" economics and trade fair, the "establishing China" pavilion, the China intangible cultural heritage exhibition, and media visits between China and Kazakhstan.

Embassy Embarks on 'Public Diplomacy Programme' to Promote Malaysia to Chileans

The Malaysian embassy in Santiago has embarked on a Public Diplomacy Programme with a group of high school students [...] in an effort to further promote Malaysia, specifically in the region. Malaysian Ambassador to Chile, Datuk Dr Mohamad Rameez Yahaya, said that during the programme, the students got to know Malaysia better through video shows on tourism in Malaysia

Silent Film Fest Entry Showcases Filipino-German Collaboration

German silent film musician and composer Pierre Oser is coming to Manila for the 3rd time this year to grace the 9th International Silent Film Festival, until Aug. 30, at the Edsa Shangri-La Plaza, Mandaluyong City. Working with Pierre for this gig is Filipino virtuoso Jaimar Palispis, associate director of the group KontraGaPi, an official ethnic music and dance ensemble of the University of the Philippines, Diliman.

120 Kenyan Students to Leave for China for Higher Education

A ceremony was held at the Chinese Embassy in Kenya on Thursday to bid farewell to 120 Kenyan students who have received scholarships to study in China. The Principal Secretary in the state department of higher education, Professor Colletta Suda said scholarships will boost Kenya's aspirations of expanding access to higher education for the youth.

'UK-India Year of Culture' Targets the 4G Generation

The British Council India has come up with initiatives to launch new digital platforms under their campaign 'UK-India Year of Culture' with the aim to connect with the digital generation youngsters of India and UK culturally. [...] "We want to connect with the 4G generation who would like to travel with us digitally. Smart phones help connect with the younger generation and is one way to strengthen the cultural exchange between India and UK."
