The concept is called "gastrodiplomacy," and South Korea is one of its strongest champions. Asean Community Meets in Dubai for Future Cooperation

The heads of missions of five Asean countries based in Dubai met in a networking event for the first time with leaders of their communities on Monday to discuss future areas of collaboration [...] “As a community, you need really to have a very good people-to-people interaction. What’s more important is this is our first public diplomacy programme by all the Asean consuls” Yousuf said.

Mayor, Council Welcome Japanese Students

The cultural exchange between Marlborough and Akiruno, Japan moved forward and continued to flourish as students, educators and host families were welcomed by Mayor Arthur Vigeant and the City Council at the council’s July 25th meeting.   The traditional exchange of gifts took place as introductions were made and hospitality warmly extended.

Park's G20 Mission

Korea and China celebrate the 24th anniversary of diplomatic relations on Aug. 24, but bilateral ties have suffered considerably in recent months due to Seoul's decision to deploy an advanced U.S. missile defense system here. Amid rising tensions between the two countries, President Park Geun-hye will visit China to attend the 11th G20 summit in Hangzhou on Sept. 4 to 5.

A Review of Reasserting America in the 1970s: U.S. Public Diplomacy and the Rebuilding of America’s Image Abroad

Overseas, U.S. prestige appeared to be a thing of the past. Policymakers and diplomats, hoping to “fix” this problem, used several ways to do so, including turning to public diplomacy (PD), a little-known, among the American public, foreign policy instrument, implemented by the United States Information Agency, established by President Eisenhower (in 1953), at the height of the Cold War, in order to counteract Soviet propaganda.

Rio Extravaganza a Reminder to Kenya to Invest in Its Youth

As number 16 in the world medal chart in Rio and currently top in Africa, Kenya is in the league of the world’s sports powers. Kenya should fund its nationalist project as part of its sports diplomacy and projection of soft power. There is no reason why gold medallists should not be full ambassadors and remunerated accordingly. The country must consciously and innovatively invest in its sports talents.
