BBC Click Turns Spotlight on Indian Tech
To mark a new season of India-focused programmes, BBC World News and BBC.com are hosting a special event with leading tech journalist and BBC Click presenter Spencer Kelly. Kelly is in Bengaluru, covering the latest in Indian technology for two special episodes of the BBC show Click, to be aired as part of the BBC’s international news channel’s India Direct season, broadcasting in March.
Syria Supper Club: Reaching Out to Refugees, One Dinner at a Time
This is what is known as Syria Supper Club, in which Muslim refugees from Syria and Iraq join groups of mostly Jewish New Jerseyans for dinners that are part fundraiser, part cultural exchange. Women from the refugee families cook the elaborate feasts; the Americans host the meals. In January alone, 14 meals have been scheduled, all with different cooks.
In World First, Denmark to Name a ‘Digital Ambassador’
Foreign Minister Anders Samuelsen revealed the plans in an interview, saying that companies like Google, Apple and Microsoft “affect Denmark just as much as entire countries”. “These companies have become a type of new nations and we need to confront that,” Samuelsen said. Samuelsen said that the ambassadorship, which has not yet been filled, Denmark will work toward better relationships with the American tech firms.
Turkey Will Share its Development Formula with Africa
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, speaking at the conclusion of his three-day, three-country tour of southeast Africa that included stops at Tanzania, Mozambique and Madagascar, said Turkey would share its experiences on economic development. He noted that he had the opportunity to hold discussions with the presidents of all three countries and that they were appreciative of what Turkey could provide.
Nigeria and Rwanda Establish Foundation
Nigerian investors are also present in the ICT sector and private business, with a target of expanding investments to tourism, telecommunication, cultural exchanges, and oil and gas. In other partnerships, Nigeria has been offering support to Rwanda in training of military personnel.

'Sanctuary City’ Mayors Vow to Defy Trump’s Immigration Order
The mayors of American cities large and small reacted with outrage on Wednesday as President Trump signed an executive order saying he would halt funding to municipalities that did not cooperate with federal immigration officials.The defiant officials — from New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and smaller cities, including New Haven; Syracuse; and Austin, Tex., said they were prepared for a protracted fight.
Curtain Rises for Ho Chi Minh-Gyeongju World Culture Expo
The theme of this year's expo is "Joint Prosperity of Asia through Cultural Exchange," and will display performances, exhibitions and symposiums at Ho Chi Minh City Hall plaza and nearby locations. It will be held from November 9 through December 2. More than 10,000 people from 40 countries will participate as performers.
