Group Says it Will Break Gaza Blockade by Air

A pro-Palestinian group says it will break Israel’s blockade of Gaza by flying a planeload of aid into the coastal strip. The U.S.-based Free Palestine Movement said on its website that it will “raise the ante and challenge the Israeli blockade of Gaza by air.”

Syrian eyes see peace as a mirage

United States President Barack Obama's Middle East envoy George Mitchell landed in Damascus on Thursday for his fourth visit since mid-2009. He came to brief President Bashar al-Assad about ongoing talks between Palestinians and Israelis, which he has called "impressive", arranged by the Obama administration.

Aljazeera: tsunami of Chinese commerce is sparking tension and even violence in some parts of Africa

Earlier this month, Aljazeera screened a movie titled The Colony by Brent Huffman and Xiaoli Zhou. Huffman and Zhou explored the “onslaught of Chinese economic might and its impact on long-standing African traditions.” This economic colonization, hence the title of the film, is not without its pitfalls with minimal assimilation, integration, or perception of mutual benefit.
